WORSHIP AT SHARON
Come as you are.
Sundays: 8:45 AM / Contemporary Worship || 10:00 AM Sunday School || 11:00 AM Blended Traditional Worship
Summer Wednesdays: 7:00 PM / Crossroads Worship
Folks who join us in worship often say, "I feel like I’m home." You’ll actually see yard signs throughout our Holden Beach community – and beyond – that say, "I found my home at Sharon UMC!" Everyone is welcome at Sharon and you’re free to come as you are. Whether you’re exploring Christianity, new to faith, a long-time follower of Jesus, or anything in between, you are important to God and to us. We hope you find your time with us engaging and inspiring. And just know that, wherever you are on your spiritual journey, we’re happy to have you with us.
SUNDAY MORNING AT SHARON
When you visit Sharon UMC, we encourage you complete a Visitor’s Card in your seat and place it in the offertory plate. Also, let an usher know that you’d like a Visitor’s Packet. We’d love to meet you and answer any questions you may have.
Have a cup of coffee.
In fact, bring your coffee (with a lid, please) in the sanctuary with you. Really, it’s okay.
And when the new Education Building is completed, we look forward to meeting you for coffee next door in between services and before / after Sunday School.
Your children & youth are always welcome in in our worship services.
We love the sounds of babies and kids in our worship experiences!
We also realize that parents and grandparents may need a time to be fully engaged during worship without the distraction of their kids. No judgement here! The Little Lambs Nursery is available for infants and toddlers as needed at any point during the service.
Typically, after the offertory, children of all ages are invited to join the pastor at the altar for fun lessons. After the children's prayer, our Little Lambs return to the nursery, the older kids (K-3) head out for SeaKids children's church, and the oldest kids enjoy the Pew Boxes during the rest of the service in the sanctuary. But, in the end, it’s completely up to you to do what’s best for your family and comfort.
Periodically, our King’s Kids, Legacy praise team, Legacy youth, and Sunday School children share scripture, liturgical dancing, signing, music, or in other ways during our worship services.
Need prayer on Sunday?
We believe in prayer. After all, it’s part of our mission statement. Prayer opportunities are available to anyone in need of support, encouragement, or celebration. The church and campus are covered in prayer prior to service, including everyone who walks through our doors. Prayer warriors in our church family are always available to pray with you. Whether you have a need or praise, let us know how we can join you in prayer on the Connection Card in your pew. Simply drop your card in the offering plate as it passes. And, of course, the altar is always open and available to spend meaningful time in prayer alone or with someone praying with you. During the service, the pastor prays for us, we pray The Lord’s Prayer corporately, and we see James 5:14 in action as our church family sometimes gathers to anoint believers for healing.
Please don’t feel obligated to participate in the offertory.
We take up an offering during the service as a true and obedient act of worship for members and regular attendees who consider Sharon UMC their home. If you’re a guest, please consider filling out a Connection Card to drop in the offering plate as it passes. This helps us connect with you, pray for any requests you may have, or answer any questions.
OUR WORSHIP EXPERIENCES & TIMES
Sundays at 8:45 AM (Contemporary) and 11 AM (Blended Traditional)
Choose the time that fits your schedule and worship style. Along with messages which are built on biblical truths that you will be able to apply to your real life during the week, music is a big part of our worship services. Each service just has a bit of a different flavor. Our contemporary worship service at 8:45 AM features a live adult praise band - with contemporary music or hymns with a twist – and the youth praise team leads the worship monthly as well. The 11:00 AM worship service also has a laid-back feel, but blends in more traditional hymns and liturgy and features an adult choir.
We believe in integrating all ages into our worship experiences at Sharon as we learn from one another and share our gifts and talents. The worship arts are also greatly valued as seen through the great variety of music, instruments, liturgical dance, signing, drama, art, narratives, special presentations, and other interpretative arts weekly and throughout the Christian liturgical seasons.
Dress is casual for all – so come as you are and enjoy a worship service that is designed with you in mind.
ALL FRIENDS WELCOME!
We strive to expand our outreach into the community and invite others to join us in worship, including those with special needs, those who are not comfortable with or able to drive, and other situations which come to our attention. We greatly appreciate our volunteers who assist with getting folks here to our campus to be in fellowship with us.
NEED A LITTLE EXTRA HELP TO HEAR AND SEE?
No worries….we have special headsets to help you hear the sermon and visuals projected on the wall to see information and lyrics.
The first Sunday of each month, our worship services offer the opportunity to participate in Holy Communion. At the contemporary service, Communion is taken by intinction, where the bread, representing the body of Christ broken for you, is offered to you to dip into the grape juice, representing the blood of Christ shed for you. At the blended service, folks can choose intinction or the individual cups of juice with the bread. All are welcome at the Communion Table, regardless of denominational affiliation, age, or place in life. And if you have a sleeping baby in your arms or have trouble walking to the altar, don’t worry. Communion can be brought to you. Just let an usher know.
For those who live other places, are traveling, are hospitalized or sick, or who are only able to worship with us occasionally or seasonally, we broadcast the 8:45 AM worship service, along with a few special services, find out here how you can tune in online.
